Artist & Researcher Talk

ABOUT: Find out about the innovative Science+Art Project GEOLOCATION JOURNEYS; a collaboration between marine predator researchers at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies and artist Annalise Rees. Ms Rees and researcher Ms. Cleeland will discuss the Science+Arts initiative which uses retired geolocators, used to track marine predators such as albatrosses, seals and penguins and crafts them into a unique piece of jewellery, handcrafted by a team of Science+Art volunteers.

ABOUT: Join Dr. Jaimie Cleeland, PhD, PGDip. BSc (Hons) to find out about marine conservation action in overdrive. Don’t miss her fascinating insights following her epic 13 month expedition on Gough Island where she worked with albatrosses and the impact of marine plastics, longline fishing and predatory invasive mice.

ABOUT: An open community engagement forum sharing the outcomes of the GEOLOCATION JOURNEYS ON! Residency. Discover more about this collaborative environmental project through a Science+Arts lens led by artists Annalise Rees, Susie Betts, Cassandra Gray, Jenny Gray and Collette Gray; Researcher Jaimie Cleeland and; the Streaky Bay Area School Yr 6 and 7 participants.

ABOUT: See artist Annalise Rees and Aboriginal artist Sarah Butcher at work on the GEOLOCATION JOURNEYS ON! INSTALLATION as it comes to life over 7 days. The artists team will invite participation to introduce the public to marine predator research through mapping and narrative.
