PRIMAL SOAPBOX SESSION—WISDOM CIRCLE AND WELCOME

VISIBLE recognises and respects that we are living and creating on Aboriginal Lands. VISIBLE is committed to working together to honour Aboriginal living cultures.  Join with local Wirangu Elders and Aboriginal artists in a welcome atmosphere of acknowledgment and reconciliation to promote listening and hearing and; a sharing of wisdom, culture and creativity.

 

PRIMAL SOAPBOX SESSION—WILDERNESS SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA

ABOUT: The Wilderness Society SA has a great track record of achieving real conservation outcomes for South Australia by protecting nature.  If you share their passion for protecting, respecting and connecting with the natural world that sustains us all, then come along to a presentation on one of two key campaigns about protecting the Great Australian Bight (including the waters off Kangaroo Island) from deep sea oil drilling.  Have a listen, touch base and/or get involved - It’s your choice!

 

PRIMAL WORKSHOP—DEBRIS

ABOUT: Guided by community artists Pam Diment and Sherrie Jones learn about the effects of marine debris on our oceans and waterways and how you can make a difference.  Create your own Eco—artwork in this FREE workshop using recycled and up-cycled marine debris.  Your artwork will form part of a larger marine debris installation.

OPTIONAL: Bring along old fishing rope, line and net; hard plastics and straws and; other marine rubbish and materials.

VENUE: Meet at Main Marquee, Campbells Landing, Eyre Avenue

ABOUT: Immerse yourself in a moment of remembrance of endangered and lost species by taking part in constructing a memoir installation with Finnish artists Laura Pokela and Sanna Sillgren.  Join them to ponder themes of climate change, environmental justice and invasive species and experience FREE 2 and 3D sculpting with clay and stones.  Participate in constructing the installation with pebbles and sculpting a small clay work.

PRIMAL WORKSHOP–EXTRACT

VENUE: Meet on location at Marquee B, Corner Stuart Street and Eyre Avenue

ABOUT: Over 2 hours learn how to sculpt Mount Gambier limestone with artist Ruth Gregor.  The FREE workshop will cover safety, stone qualities, and basic techniques to get started before beginning your own sculpture piece to take home.  Participants will be required to wear sturdy covered footwear and gloves and are encouraged to bring along their own hand tools such as old chisels, saw, hammer, hand drill.

A small block of limestone, gloves, some tools, safety glasses and dust masks are provided for use.

Artist Talk

VENUE: Meet at Main Marquee, Campbells Landing, Eyre Avenue

ABOUT: Join artist Edwina Cooper for a FREE practical discussion around the translation of embodied oceanic feeling and experiences and how this manifests in making.  Participants will be encouraged to straddle the threshold of ocean and land on the shoreline to ponder and discuss architectural necessities as land going creatures.
